Step-by-step plan
1 Preparation
- Remove the yakitori chicken skewers from the packaging and remove any excess sauce. Cut the chicken into pieces.
- Finely chop the onion and carrot, slice the spring onions, and mince the garlic
2 Baking
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
- Add the sliced carrot to the pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes until it starts to soften.
- Push the vegetables to one side of the pan and add the chicken pieces to the other side. Cook the chicken for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is heated through.
- Meanwhile, cook the rice according to the package instructions.
- Add the cooked rice to the pan and break up any clumps with a spatula. Stir-fry the rice and vegetables together for a few minutes until well combined.
- Add the frozen peas, soy sauce, and oyster sauce (if using) to the pan. Stir everything together to evenly distribute the sauces and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the peas are heated through.
3 Serve
-
- Remove the pan from the heat and add the sliced green onions. Mix everything together to incorporate the green onions into the fried rice.
- Drizzle a little sesame oil over the fried rice for extra flavor (optional). Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish.
- Serve the Yakitori Chicken Fried Rice warm and enjoy the delicious combination of tender yakitori chicken, sticky rice, and vegetables. A delightful meal to savour each time.
- Garnish with the green parts of the green onions and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
